Hello! Where I am, summer has officially arrived, and for many people, that means travel. Today’s post comes to us from Marcela De Vivo, about current trends you might find if you’re headed out of town these days. Enjoy!
Every country (and each of our 50 states here in the U.S.) has its unique charms. Hawaii has the laid-back Hawaiian shirt; China has the functional-yet-fashionable pollution masks; Korea has classy neon (think “Gangnam Style”) and France has the chic all-black look that the rest of us women all over the world aspire to. Here’s a short list of some of countries around the world and their corresponding trends:
What is Sweden’s most famous fashion trend? Clogs! Clogs have been in something of a heydey these past couple of years—even though they’ve been around forever, they’re especially popular now. They’ve even been frequenting the runways in the last few years!
One of the most well-liked brands is known as Swedish Hasbeens. A few years ago, they did a capsule collection with the ever-popular H&M. They’re made out of beautiful leather and have wooden soles. They also have a retro charm to them that is very in right now.
Although bikinis are quite popular around the entire world, Floridians have their own spin on things when it comes to swimwear fashion—in Florida, it’s popular to pair a tropical print bikini top with a skirt. Pairing a bikini and skirt together lend a playful feminine charm—it makes us all hearken back to idyllic memories of spring break.
If you want to look like one of the locals, hop on the bandwagon with this trend; you can stay at beachside accommodations—giving you the excuse you need to flaunt your chicest swimwear in the Florida heat! The one downside of this style is that it means slathering up in sunscreen every hour, or dealing with awkward tan lines after a long day on the beach.
One of the most well-known fashion trends in London are brogues. Not only are they sophisticated, but they go with everything and they’re comfortable. With tights and a skirt, you get a sort of schoolgirl charm; with skinny jeans, they add a little masculine flair. Pair brogues with a dress and they look kind of “adorkable,” a la Zooey Deschanel. When it comes to footwear in London, these are quite popular. It doesn’t hurt that Brit style icons Emma Watson, Carey Mulligan and Alexa Chung all favor them as well!
Whether you’re shopping around in Europe or soaking up some rays in the Florida sun, be sure to pay attention to how different fashion trends are around the world. You might even start a new trend in your hometown by choosing one from the above-mentioned list.
